My daughter starts kindergarten in the fall. I notice that private schools have tours now. Can you go up to your local public school and ask for a tour or do you have to tour during a specific time of year? I would like to visit the local school soon so I can make a decision. |
I don't think there's any kind of formal policy about that. We just contacted the principal and she was happy to meet with us and show us around. If your principal is not willing to do the same, you might take that as a warning sign. |
You can tour our local MCPS school. |
We toured ours. We called the office to schedule it. There were about 10 people on our tour so it was a pretty standard thing. |
I live in pg county. I have been trying to schedule a tour but only the principal can make the appointments. We'll if I could just get in touch with the principal.
Wow. |
Our MCPS elementary was having a kindergarten tour this morning. I saw a sign on the door when we arrived and parents with nametags. I wasn't aware they did this! |
I would not consider it a warning sign if a principal does not take the time to do personal tours. I would actually rather my principal did not. I would ask to observe a K classroom instead. This does not pull staff from any of their assigned duties with the kids. Or if they do a regularly schedule tour that is great too. My school did not do this.. |
Ours does one tour in January, one in February, and one in March prior to kindergarten enrollment in April. |
