"Borderline Positive" Blood Pregnancy Test?

Anyone ever get one of these after a positive HPT? I took the blood test 3 days after my missed period and I am pretty regular. What are the possibilities here? I am so anxious "not knowing" until the re-test next week. TIA.

Do you mean you had a positive home pregnancy test, but then went to your doctor, took a blood test, and the result is "borderline"?

On what day post missed period did you take the home pregnancy test?

If you registered very strong positive on the HPT, but now aren't so strong, one unfortunate possibility is that you are having an extremely early miscarriage, one so early that most people would never have known about it, if they hadn't taken the early home pregnancy test.

One possible cause of a positive HPT is an ovarian cyst. I had a friend who tested positive on hers and negative on blood tests, and it turned out she had cysts.

Yes - positive home test, blood test is "borderline positive."

3rd day after -- took the home test and then went in for a blood test 2 hours later. I used EPT Certainy so it just said Pregnant, it was very clear.

OK -- I'm NO EXPERT but was obsessive about these tests when I was TTC myself. So I think there's hope.

The earliest home pregnancy tests measure positive when your HCG is 15 to 25 mlU

With a blood test, under 5 mlU is "negative" and over 25 mlU is "positive" -- so anything in between, I surmise, is "borderline positive".

So if you did both home pregnancy test AND blood test the same day, you could have had a level of 20mlU -- and been positive on one and borderline on the other!

I had a blood test done, pre-op, that showed a very weak positive. Then I had a urine test in a lab, that was also a weak positive. It was less tahn a week after conception, and I hadn't missed a period yet.

I had a positive HPT (3 days before anticipated period) and a negative blood test the next day. And yes, I was indeed pregnant. (The doctor said the home pregnancy test was more sensitive than the blood test.)
