No way, right? Out of town right now at a family funeral and we chose to fly back Thursday evening so kids could go to school on Friday and miss one less day of school. If there is a reasonable chance that schools could be closed on Friday I will be so upset that we missed this family time. From what I am seeing on the news etc, it does not look like that's a possibility but I just wanted to throw it out there? |
I doubt it. I think they will go back on Thursday. |
I just saw a model that shows possible snow thursday |
YES! ![]() I HOPE so! These poor kids need a break. The teachers too I'm sure. |
They will probably be in school Friday. If you will be so upset about missing the family time then just fly back on Sunday. What's one day? |
They just had a break.....a week and a half break. Don't you remember? |
Seriously? My kids have only been in school one full week (last week) since December 13th. We have had tons and tons of family-together time. Now is the time when the children go to school. |
My kid had 2 weeks. Then a short Monday, then a day off, 2 hour delay, a full day and ended with another 2 hour delay. One full week, and now a 5 day weekend? They need a break? Give ME a fucking break. |
Yeah, I almost forgot about the before Christmas days off. Ugh. |
Give YOU a break? From YOUR own children?
Bottom line is I'd rather my children be home safe alive and well instead of at risk of only God knows trying to get to school. NOTHING is going on at that school that's more important than my children's safety. |
Huh? Dec 16-20 was a full week of school. No delays or closings in FCPS. |
You obviously don't get figures of speech...the line of reasoning about the kids needing a break is total bullshit, and the poster was called on it. The kids have had plenty of break time in the past month, including a 2 week holiday break. Yes, I want my kid safe, but this winter has been a pain in the ass so far for anyone attempting to remain gainfully employed. But yet again, the kids needing a break line is bullshit. |
At this point, I would just stay where you are and not worry about it. Even if there's school on Friday, they probably won't miss much. |
OP, it's a family funeral. Your children can make up any missed work. Spend time with your relatives; you can't get that back. In five years, what's more likely-- that you will look back and wish you'd spend a couple of extra days with your family at this time or that you will think, gosh, missing that Friday of school really messed up my kids' education? |
No! |
