| My son has 2 tutors and want to know if they can write a recommendation letter for his AAP |
|
Most people don't want the AAP committee to know their child goes to a tutor. They like it to appear that the child is naturally smart.
That said, anyone can write a letter. |
| Plus you're paying this person. It won't carry any weight at all. |
| then who will be the best person to write a recommendation letter other than parents? |
| Using tutors is probably not something to advertise when applying to AAP. If you are needing/using tutors, then perhaps AAP is not a fit for your child. |
A coach of an academic or sports team, a troop leader, a (private lessons) music teacher, a youth group leader, etc. |
| Recommendation letters are worthless. Don't bother getting any other recs. No one submits a negative rec, so where's the value? |
On what do you base your comment? |
| clergy, art teacher, piano teacher, karate teacher, basketball coach, ballet teacher, neighbor or relative who is the education field...u get the idea |
| can they use the same form as parents? |
Which question are you responding to? |
|
Why on earth does your second grader need TWO tutors?
If she finds second grade work that difficult then you should be looking into remedial programs, not AAP. |
| Unless the tutor is in something not covered in school, like Russian or Chinese, I would not think it would be helpful. |
| I gave my LOR people the parent form and asked them to write and LOR using the buzz words from the form. |
|
If the tutor knows the child's academic potential the best, I don't see why not. i think it is a good idea, and two tutors is even better.
coaches, piano teachers, etc.---you are paying them too, so I don't see the difference between tutors. |
