Where to keep phone/music while working out?

Anonymous
I have been working with a trainer for the past few months (and thus not listening to music while working out) but am on my own now and need to keep my phone on me while working out (both for music and for tracking my weight training). My current method is tucking it in to my sports bra which works fine but is kind of gross with all the sweat, and I don't particularly like digging around in my bra multiples times per workout. Is there an armband I can wear that won't interfere with weightlifting and will let me get to my phone quickly? Any other ideas? It's an iphone 4 btw.

Do a quick web search for a Radio Shack or running store. Belkin makes armbands for ipods and iphones. I have both, and they're pretty good. I launder them occasionally in a lingerie bag, because they get pretty sweaty.

(I run about 5-12 miles at a time, and have been happy with the armbands for my runs.)

When I run I just hold the phone, so I can fast forward to the next song if necessary.

I leave my phone in my locker. For music I have an iPod that has a clip and attaches to my waist. I go low-tech for recording my weights: paper & pencil. I have a plastic folder and copied the template for my work-out on card stock. It works fine.

I used an armband and hated it. It constricts my arms for lifting so I would strap it around my upper calf on upper body days and my forearm on leg days. That worked ok but occasionally I would snag the cord while jumping up to do pull ups or using a dip belt.

Then a month ago I got a blue tooth set and I couldn't be happier. No cords to tangle and the phone stays on the ground nearby. They're amazing.

I use an armband from Target and it's fine. The cord is fine for legs and chest/back. When I do arms, I run the cord around my back to keep it out of the way.

FYI to 2:58 - make sure your clip-on iPod doesn't get too wet from sweat or rain. I've lost two iPods that way - an expensive lesson. (especially since the second lasted maybe a month.) The Apple geniuses told me the screen can't handle moisture, and seemed kind of embarrassed when I pointed out that moisture is a pretty common byproduct of working out and the clip-on iPod was marketed toward athletes.

I use the Belkin armband as well. Others have commented that it gets in the way when they lift but I don't have a problem with it. I lift 5-6 days/week and I just adjust the cord to be out of my way when I'm doing upper body.

I looked it up and I use the Belkin, too.
