Smith as a boy's middle name?

Anonymous
I'm expecting my second boy in April. Our first son is a Jr. so for our second son I wanted to find someway to carry on my name. My maiden name is Smith, so I was thinking of using that as a middle name. My husband thinks that's a stupid idea and that Smith only sounds decent as a last name. Is there anything wrong with Smith as a middle name?

Its fine. Wasn't there a guy on Sex and The City who went by Smith as his first name?

Totally fine. Using the mother's maiden name as a middle name is really common, and Smith would be fine. People don't use their middle names all the time anyway, so it doesn't matter how it "sounds" all that much.

Lots of people use their middle name. That being said, Smith is a fine middle name.

It sounds stupid, like you didn't care at all.

I would absolutely do it.

My maiden name is Clark and we used it for our son's middle name. It's a nice gesture, go for it.

I like it.

I like when kids have their mothers maiden name as their middle name.

If he's a Junior, won't he have his father's middle name?
