Kindergarten places

I don't think any DC charter schools have kindergarten entry points. Does anyone have a good handle on which schools may have a reasonable number of openings for Kindergarten this year? (e.g. more than 1 or 2) Either because they add classes in kindergarten or because (like Mundo Verde and Inspired Teaching) they are moving locations and may see some attrition of existing students because they can't do the commute.

Sela has at least 6 or 7 openings for its a Fall 2014 class

Lee Montessori because it's new.

I had this issue last year, OP, and good luck to you. It was tough. Only charter spot we were offered was Bridges, which we chose not to take because it would have been a terrible commute for us.

Maybe Bridges because they are likely to lose some rising K students because those students will follow their older siblings to other schools. This is because the school is only in its second year of expanding beyond PreK - it will probably stabilize in 2015-16 and leave very few K spots for entry, especially if they get Sharpe.

CCPCS expands class size from PreK to K.

Last year most of these spots were taken by siblings - but they had late movement right around count day.

Inspired Teaching doesn't add classes in K.

. Sorry yes, they add moving so you can expect some attrition

This. Metro-accessible at 15th & U to non-metro at 4th St. NE means there will be attrition. Now, there is a large and growing population of middle class families not far from there who will welcome another desirable school into their mix.

Thanks everyone, especially for the heads up on Lee Montessori. Definitely looking into that one.

Don't despair. We were offered spots at two top charters in early October for K. Neither was our top choice, but this is just to say, don't give up hope while also maintaining back up strategies.

Don't forget good dcps that might have space! Just in case they were to have a spot.

Although the first year the school was in same location and there were still many applications and they were about 98-100% full
