Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I can barely swallow and my head is pounding. DD who's 5 months is sick too, but thankfully getting better. I'm BFing so am hoping to feel halfway decent to continue nursing her but it's been a tough day. I've been gargling with warm salt water but it hasn't been enough. Help!! I don't want to take anything that would affect my milk supply either, obviously.
Check out kellymom.com for useful information on what's safe to take -- the list is longer than you might think. Hang in there!
I always just tough it out. I breastfed my first for 15 months and now have a 7 month old. I *hate* getting sick when I'm breastfeeding. Good luck!
Try oscillococcinum
Try doing a sinus flush with diluted salt water. I started doing this while I was pregnant and didn't want to take anything and was miserable. You make a lukewarm diluted salt water mixture, stick your nose in and snort (one side at a time). You'll know you did it right if you start coughing because the salt water made it to your throat). It feels as bad as it sounds, but it will clear out all the mucus. If your nose is so stuffed that you can't snort on that side, just try a few times and then leave it alone. Do it morning and night. You will be better soon!
