Middle school math--is there a curriculum being followed?

Anonymous
My 6th grader seems to be learning math from random worksheets, many appearing to be downloaded from the web, not a coherent textbook approach. Can someone explain if this is effective? Do 7th and 8th grades follow a textbook?

My daughter's math teacher told me that the curriculum is being written at a high level semester by semester. They are not following textbook. This is 7th grade Algebra.

Is it MC? They are awful with math.

Yes, MCPS. It is really bad. I thought there was a specific curriculum that MCPS had to follow, but all I see are worksheets from free websites with no continuity in content, teaching style, progression of difficulty, etc. What can be done about this? I thought MCPS was supposedly a model to the nation? In what area exactly because what I see does not impress me in any way.

Why don't you talk to the teacher to find out this information? Why waste time speculating. If you really care, then inquire.
