Flowers in the Attic

Are you planning to watch this weekend? I feel so creeped out every time I see the promos yet I can't look away. I can't believe I read that book as young as I did!

Looking forward to it! It is a "classic =)"

Totally! Can't wait.

I read all of V.C. Andrews' books in middle school. I had the biggest crush on that character who wore fluffy poet men's blouses and lurked in the garden maze. I mean, I loved the man with all the ardour my 7th grade thumping heart could muster! How cute, appalling and embarrassing at the same time.

Is this the original or a remake? Network tv? I was about 12! When I read it. I remember being creeped out every time I looked at my brother for a while after reading it.

Supposedly better than the other remake, according to this review.

No. I realized as I was telling DH about the promo (loved the creepy use of Sweet Child of Mine) that I don't want to lose the version of the books from teen years and how I imagined things to be.

How weird is it that I'll happily see filmed versions of most books but can't for Flowers in the Attic?

When I set my DVR to record the new one, the old one came up too. It is apparently going to be on sometime in the next few weeks. I recorded both . But I will not reread the book, I have to draw the line somewhere!

Personally I thought my sweet audrina was the creepiest VC Andrews book. I loved all of them, although it was kind of ridiculous when the books kept coming out long after VCA died.

OP here--I reread Flowers as an adult and the writing was atrocious!

re PP- it is a new version with Ellen Burnstyn and Heather Graham on Lifetime.

I saw it years ago when I was a kid and it gave me nightmares

Definitely plan to watch although I am not sure I will admit it anywhere except on this anon forum I love that the promos make reference to the fact that this is the book you weren't "allowed" to read - I feel like the ads are speaking to a slim segment of the population which i fit into perfectly!

Hell, yes. I do but I don't want to re-read before watching because I'm pretty sure the writing is just awful. But my long-lost middle school self neeeeeeeeeds to watch. And my husband is out of town. I should probably find a banana clip and some jams.

I definitely thought My Sweet Audrina was the creepiest, and that's the first of the VC Andrews books I read. I found it at my grandmother's house (she had a deep and abiding love of super trashy novels) and devoured it.

I read the book as a teenager and it creeped me out. I don't think I can watch the movie.

DH saw a commercial with me last night and he thought it looked "creepy" in a good way, so I'll get him to watch it with me this weekend. I didn't tell him it's pulpy trash that I loved in the 6th grade.

I read a ton of VCA books, but I was a bit older...about 18 and just moved into myfirst apartment. I was disappointed by the last movie! I may have to check out the new one. what network is it on?
