That's the kind of thing Solomon does. Make adjustments. |
You don’t hear as much about him now that the Independence guy has cornered the good-coach-bad-guy market |

6A first round spreads:
Battlefield by 3 Robo by what ever they want Indy by 7 Cosby/ West Po by even |
YT is an underdog but that spread feels high |
If a senior doesn't want to play out the string of the last 1-2 weeks then they are free to quit. Just because your kid wasn't playing on a good team and can't manage to be a big boy and show up doesn't mean other teams shouldn't get the chance to play their final games. |
| Madison v Battlefield is a toss up, while Battlefield owned the H2H in a low scoring game, they were also 0-5 against the rest of the field. |
YT +7? Ouch. |
I actually think the PP has a point. The lax season for some of these teams is pushing into mid-June. For the lax rats - some kids are missing club practices and club tournaments where they could be getting recruited (college coaches aren't coming to the VHSL playoffs). Other kids are missing out on making money with a summer job. And of course - some are just missing out on summer fun. Even if you keep regional and state playoffs to the same format, it wouldn't affect things much at all to just shorten the regular season by two weeks. You're talking about cutting 3-4 games, and can still have about a 12 game regular season schedule. That's what most of the privates are doing for regular season, and they don't have 2 sets of playoffs to potentially play in. |
If your kid doesn't want to play in the state championship game then maybe they don't actually like lacrosse that much. We're not cutting the season for 100-200 players because 4 players are whining about "too much winning". JFC this is lame. |
Close! |
| I cannot figure out this forum. All this talk about Robo, Madison, YT, and Indy. The best team in the state (any Class level), and the most dominant program over the last 10 years is Riverside. This season they lost once to Stone Bridge by a goal and lost to DeMatha and Urbana (MD). Both of those losses are to teams better than any VA public school. They came back and beat SB twice by 4 goals each time. Oh, and when they scrimmaged Robo - he score was 12-9 when 1 v 1s played. So you all just keep arguing about which school is the second or third best in the State! |
Get a grip. It's beyond reasonable, and only cuts out 3-4 pointless games. All the kids still get to play for championships AND have choices for their summer. The only people negatively affected are the sad parents who have nothing better to do but watch their kids play half-speed lacrosse. |
We’d talk about Riverside more if they played in the best division(6A). 6A is deeper and harder to win than 5A, so while Riverside may be the best team, they just aren’t really relevant to most of the conversations we’re having about 6A |
DeMatha was not good at all this year; does not help your case. if you beat PVI, that would be saying something. Otherwise, play up to 6A. in the meantime, yawn... |
I think we can all agree that Riverside would be in the Top 5 regardless if they were 6A, 5A, 4A. The Potomac District is tough. 5 Teams in that District are in the Top 30 of VHSL Public Schools. (Riverside, Stone Bridge, Freedom, Lightridge, Briar Woods) No other District has more than 3. (Madison, Yorktown, Langley) (Robinson, West Potomac) (Indy, Battlefield) Now, outside of Riverside, and maybe Stone Bridge, all of those 6A schools are better than the next three in the Potomac District. Region C sucks outside of Robinson and West Potomac |
