| I'm scheduled to start my first IVF cycle next week. My RE didn't mention anything about acupuncture, diet, exercise etc to help support my cycle, but I'm reading a lot about it online. Should I postphone my cycle? Do you think these things matter? What did you do? |

I took ubiquinol (200-300mg/day) for 8 months before my first cycle, which was successful. There are some studies that indicate it might improve success rates. I doubt it's worth postponing the cycle for, though. I stopped taking it during the cycle because I wasn't sure if it was ok to take when pregnant. I also cut out caffeine a few weeks before the cycle because caffeine might lower ovarian response.
Good luck! |
| PP here again. I wanted to add that I don't think any supplements that you start taking now will matter, but I don't think supplements matter that much overall that you need to postpone your cycle. |
| I didn't do anything different - got lucky on the first try |
| I didnt do anything either. |
| My husband took FertilAid. I didn't take anything other than prenatals. |
| I took prenatals and went ahead and eliminated caffeine and alcohol during the cycle. I also did a few acupuncture appointments: one before egg retrieval, one between retrieval and transfer, and one after transfer. It worked but I also recognize that I was very lucky. Good luck! |
| I don't really think anything changes the outcome of IVF. I did do acupuncture with my successful one, but I had also done it with my unsuccessful rounds. I ate pineapple core after transfer with my successful round (for the bromelian), and I figured if it didn't help at least I got to eat pineapples. |
PLUS 1 MILLION |
| I think these "theories" (eating pineapple, acupuncture, special diets, etc) are all ways for IVF patients to try and add more control into the process. In reality, I think there is not a lot we can do to influence an outcome, (other than the drugs themselves ) and ultimately nature and chance are in control. |

Millions of people get pregnent every day without supplements, acupuncture, etc. You can drive yourself crazy with all that.
That said, my husband and I did take COQ-10 for 3 months before my successful cycle (after two failed cycles). |
| I loved getting acupuncture through out my pregnancy and I give it a huge amount of weight in getting me pregnantj |

I had acupuncture once a week.
When I started the cycle, they became different, My acupuncturist Njemile in Alexandria, would do this thing on my back that increase blood flow. I think I went a day before transfer or on the day of transfer and that was it. She did not recommend to go after transfer. I had a really really good results and over all felt very relaxed. |
| What about DHEA? |
