New stove/hood

Anonymous
Does anyone know if there is a required code for Fairfax County that stipulates the distance between the top of the range and hood?

We're just planning to drop a new stove into the same place where the dead one now resides and obviously want the hood to match. It is vented to the outside. We'd really like to put a microwave/hood combo there instead (to get back the counter space from the microwave) but I can't find anything in the building code and want to make sure I'm not running afoul of anything, especially since our house was built in the early 80s and other things we've fixed have had to be brought up to code over the years.

I've Googled and looked through the building code, but I'm not seeing anything.

Whatever company makes the hood you buy will have the required distance... no less than and no greater than

26" to 30" minimum. As close to 30 as possible.

For tight spaces this is an excellent hood
