How soon can you take a preg test following transfer?

And why did my clinic tell me not to? I'd rather get bad news in the privacy of my own home.

There are a lot of good reasons not to take HPTs at home, but I'm in the POAS camp myself. I never took one before the equivalent of 10dpo (so 5dp5dt or 7dp3dt) and always did my best to wait until 12-13dpo. One reason not to take a HPT is because sometimes the stick says negative, but your beta will be positive. Another (more likely) reason is that you may take a HPT, get a positive, be super excited and then when the blood test results come back the beta is very low and the pregnancy turns out not to be viable. (That situation sucks whether you took a HPT or not.)

GL to you!

This is exactly right.

I was told not to as well. Personally, I don't like surprises and I felt like I would have been anxiously awaiting a phone call otherwise. Also, I don't like waiting that long since I know there is a possibility to get results sooner then the 14 days you are supposed to wait (and longer if it falls over a weekend since they don't do Betas then). I'm also a POAS (Pee On A Stick) person. I bought the Wondfro since they were cheap. I started day 9. On day 10 I could see a squinter - I actually dug that one out of the trash to recheck. It could be evaporation lines if you read the test after a longer period of time though. On day 11 it was more definite and I bought a CBE to double check.
Now I have a friend who doesn't want to home test in case of the negatives. It's a personal choice.

I always took them. The earliest I got a positive was day 4 after a 5 day transfer. The only time it was wrong I got a negative but then a positive when the dr tested. Turned out to be a chemical so I'm glad I always tested.

6dp3dt it was positive. Had a beta the next day, and it was over 100. So, HPT probably would've been positive at 5dpt. It all depends on how long it takes to implant though.

I'm a POAS addict and did it immediately after transfer and it was negative so I figure HCG shot was out of my system, then I continued each day and it turned positive 6dp3dt and the line got darker each day. It was exciting to see the results but it's just one of many hurdles when you're an IVF veteran.

I am another POAS addict. I got a barely there positive 3dp5dt. It got darker each day.

I always took them starting at the equivalent of 11dpo.

I was a tester too. Way too much pressure waiting for that phone call.

I had some cycles I tested out the trigger, but generally just waited until 8 dpo.

I got a barely positive at 7dp5dt and nothing as dark as the control line until 9dp5dt. My betas were strong and I'm 12w today.

i tested out the trigger. I actually never got a stark white, but from experience testing out the trigger, I think my body takes a long time to metabolize the trigger shot. At 5dp5dt, it was barely there. On 6dp5dt it started to get darker, so I knew I had a positive.

Both times I was pregnant- one chemical and one was my DS- I got a faint positive on First Response at 10dpo- or 5dp5dt.

Just another warning against POAS that they can be off. I always POAS the morning I'd go in for my first beta blood work because if it was negative, I'd rather find out in my own bathroom at home than mid-day when I'd get the call at work. When I did get a positive, I couldn't leave well enough alone, and I retested with another stick after my positive beta on the evening before my first sonogram. It came out negative. Turns out it was wrong. I was (thankfully!) still pregnant. Successful pregnancy, but my husband will never let me live down how miserable that night before our sonogram was.

PP that's becAuse once your hcg gets too high they actually don't work as well. The test line either wicks away all the color from the control line or other wonky things. When I was pregnant they stopped working after maybe 22 or 23 or more dpo. They definitely work well around 10-20dpo. I assume your first sono was at 6 weeks or 7-8 weeks pregnant which explains that
