What do you get a 6 month old baby for Christmas/Hanukkah?

Obviously the 3 year old knows what's up, but do most people buy the baby gifts?

Are these two kids in the same family? Then I'd definitely buy something for the baby, too. With a baby, you could buy gifts that look ahead to the future. What about a favorite kids' picture book?

The kid is 6 months - save your money and buy them something when they can appreciate it, or at least know that it exists.

I know I am going to get flamed for this but I have to say it. Please, is it Christmas or Hanukkah? Totally different things, not /. Unless of course the child is Christian Jewish, which I don't think has been invented yet.

I don't understand this comment. I assumed OP used both holidays in her title to solicit ideas from everyone, regardless of which holiday their families happen to celebrate this month. Why so sensitive, PP?

Books. Some soft and chewy ones baby can start to appreciate by eating and some classics for her to grow into.
