Hardy - in boundary

Any in boundary families sending their kids to Hardy next year?

Are looking for a yes/no or anecdotes?

We are considering it. Waiting to see if any one else is too.

We are an in-boundary family, and yes, we are planning on sending DS to Hardy. We've attended several open houses and spoken to a number of current Hardy families. We are impressed by Principal Pride and by the SEM/Gifted and Talented Program, and we are convinced our child can and will thrive at Hardy.

Is it a legit gifted and talented program? Or just an " enrichment" e tra but not truly differentiated classes?

Were IB for Hardy but have decided not to send our children, at least for now. If our charter MS does not work out, we would reconsider our decision.

It's a bit of a mix. The gifted and talented kids aren't in totally separate classes all day long. They are tracked in math, and then have a number of optional SEM classes with SEM students. List of classes here:

There are several IB families in 6th grade. We are OOB, and my son plays soccer with them. Everyone is happy and doing well. Just saw them at the winter concert a few weeks ago.

+1

We are among the current IB families at Hardy and are pleased with how things are going.

Does Hardy offer 7th grade Algebra?
Anonymous
Yes it does. There are three different tracks available for math students - one track ends up with students in 8th grade taking 8th grade math; one has students taking pre-algebra in 7th grade and algebra in 8th; and one has students taking algebra in 7th grade and geometry in 8th grade.

IB for Hardy here, we considered for a moment but after a talk with the "new-old" principal and after having seen how Hardy students behave outside school we decided to send our daughter to a charter (and we are very happy with our choice).

Yes, but we have few years to go...

Do the kids take 8th grade geometry at Hardy? I thought I read in another thread that they go over to Ellington for geometry, but I could be mistaken.

And the Hardy families are happy with this choice as well.
