My daughter is nervous about showering. What is the privacy set-up? Shower curtains? Separate stalls? One big room? She is looking at Camp Winona.
When camp ends on Friday, what time is it over? Noon? 5pm? We need to fly out to a wedding one weekend, and I don't know if camp that week would be cutting it too close. Thanks in advance! |
| My then-seven year old daughter did the mini (2 night)camp at Camp Winona last year. Showering was done at the pool bathhouse. There were 3 or 4 shower stalls, no curtains but deep stalls so you kind of had to be standing right in front of them to see in, and I think the counselors had the girls double up so one could hold a towel up for the other. They do tours, so she could see for herself whether she'd be comfortable with it. |

DD did Camp Potomac Woods and they have stalls with shower curtains. Camp now ends on Friday evening - we picked her up around 6 p.m., but there was a window, something like 5-7 p.m.
I highly recommend attending the open house, at which you'll have many of these questions answered and a chance to tour one of the camps. |
| Thank you! |
| Has anyone been able to sign up today? All I get is Queue - it |
|
Yes, I signed up.
At 10am, I was able to be nearly first in line (still put in the queue, though). One of my confirmation e-mails was delayed, so I panicked and tried to log back in. At 10:30, that attempt put my in Queue It with over 900 people ahead of me. I got in at noon. There were still lots of spaces in the camps that interested me. Stick with Queue It! It seems to work, and it keeps you place in line. |
| I'm still in the queue. Hearing from friends via email that none have gotten into their first choice camps and some have just given up. Every year camp registration is such a mess. |
|
What were their first choices? I wonder for the future what the "hot" camps are.
I'm 12:13, and DD is in Baker's Dozen. |
| I'm talking about girls in 6-8 grade. There are fewer camps for that age range. |
|
Got it, thanks.
Good luck! |
| Got into our first choice. It's a miracle. Learned my lesson: must log in the second online registration opens. |
|
I don't understand... I got in, got my daughter's first choice, no problem, then logged out.
I keep going back to see if the spots have filled up, because her friend's mom is #700 in the queue to register... Each time I go online, I get in right away. I never get put on a queue. What's so special about me?? |
| I don't know but why don't you register your friend's daughter for her and have her pay you back? |
|
Ugh. So they still haven't fixed the system? Last year reg opened for all 4 camps at midnight on the same day. Whole system crashed after a few hours. Debacle.
I manage similar systems for a living and it's inexcusable they can't get a workable system. Fingers crossed for Camp Potomac Woods reg on Friday! |
| I'm glad to hear women are still helping their daughters camp. My daughter is grown now yet I still feel like a life-long Girl Scout. Everyone should learn how to bake brownies in a cardboard box and fry an egg on a number 10 coffee can all while sleeping in the woods -- it's a good prepper skill one may need someday! |
