| We'll be in Old Town this Saturday for an event that will end around 8:30. They'll have nibbles, but no dinner, so we'll be starving by the time we get out of there. We live in Chevy Chase, so we almost never get to Old Town; where should we go for dinner? We eat anything, but we haven't had Indian food in a while and would love to have some. |
| Not Indian but I love Pita House. |
|
Old Town is lacking in Indian - but there's pretty much everything else, though. Lots of French, Thai, and Italian. Burgers, sushi, and a couple of chains. Do you want a sit-down restaurant, or are you interested in something quick?

| Don't think there are any good Indian places in Old Town. |
| No Indian in Old Town but plenty of other good options: Vermillion, Bastille, Brabo Tasting Room, Majestic. |
Yeah, there's no Indian to be found for miles around Old Town There's pretty much every other cuisine across the spectrum, however.
For somewhat-sort-of-but-not-really geographic proximity, there's Layla's (Lebanese), and Parsian (Persian) that are both pretty good. Not super fancy, but both are sit-down places. Society Fair is a couple blocks away from the center of King St. Choices depend on the type of cuisine, and how casual you want to go. |

Caphe Banh Mi! Sit-down, but casual Vietnamese. Good, fresh, and pretty inexpensive.

Dishes of India isn't THAT far, not Old Town but it's not miles away either. I like Caphe Banh Mi and Virtue Food and Grain. |
| OP here -- thanks so much for all the recommendations, ladies! |
| Austin Grill. I love their chorizo tacos and jalapeƱo basil margaritas. |
| Austin grill is closed for renovations. Mai Thai is awesome. |
I wasn't that impressed with Mai Thai. For Thai in Old Town, I much prefer Sang Jun - but lord knows there's no shortage of Thai places along King Street! And yeah, Austin Grill recently closed for a least a few months for some renovations. |
| I like brabo tasting room for casual. |
|
I love Vermilion, but it's not casual. I hear wonderful things about Majestic and haven't been yet.
You could also head just a bit up Mt. Vernon Ave. to Del Ray. Evening Star Cafe is lovely, there's a great California-style Taqueria, and there are a bunch of new options there since I moved away. Various things with "Osteria" in the name. |
