s/o Who do you get your life insurance from?

Anonymous
I'm the PP who is asking about life insurance for stay-at-home parents. Seeing that I'm leaning towards getting a policy, I was wondering if you can recommend your company? I'm insured by State Farm for other things but don't want to just assume they would provide the best life. Thanks!

We have been very pleased w NY life. Great service and costs seem to be fair. Good luck.

Thanks! I was just on their website not a moment ago and it seems like they may be a great fit.

'Course, like with any insurance, you don't REALLY know which companies are good and which are lousy until you actually file a claim...

You should find one of those companies that will compare the major insurance companies for your particular situation (age, weight, medical condition, medications, etc) and find you the best rate.

My husband and I have policies with me Lincoln National Life Insurance Company through a brokerage called the Meltzer Group in Bethesda. All has been very well, but neither of us have died yet.

I like Northwestern Mutual. They had some policy options that nobody else seemed to sell.

OP - you need to talk with an agent who represents many different companies, just as you would for your auto or home. Then and only then can you do an apples to apples comparison and get the policy that is truly right for you.

also you need to determine if you want hole life or term. This all depends on your end-goal. talk to an agent who will explain the differences to you.

I meant WHOLE not HOLE.

no one needs whole life (there are a very few people who can make an argument that whole makes sense for their situation, as opposed to being a mistake, but those people aren't looking for financial advice on DCUM).

OP there are a couple threads here from people recommending life insurance agents, or you can go to a site like insure.com and get comparison quotes

I work very part-time. Mostly I am a SAHM. My life insurance is through USAA. Not sure if they are necessarily the best value, but we trust the company.
