Turnberry Isle in Aventura Florida

Just came back. Highly recommended, especially for kids. Large rooms, great pools, including one with lazy river and water slide, beautiful grounds. Fast shuttle to their private beach club with nice beach, pool, bar/restaurant and bathroom/changing facilities. The breakfast buffet was especially good! The Aventura Mall is across the street, making easy access to other restaurants, etc. You can walk to local drug stores if necessary. There's lots to do in Miami, but you could do a long weekend at this hotel, never leave, and be really happy. They handle kids especially well and strike a great balance between good service and non-intrusiveness.

We've stayed at this property several times. I've recommended here. I'm glad you liked it too!

Agree Top Notch

Have they improved the beach club and pool? I'd say that was the biggest negative of this hotel.

I'm not sure what it was like prior. The bathroom areas were not luxurious, but the pool was nice and the beach was clean with very comfortable chairs, etc. Made the mistake of feeding the gulls some fries and it was like a scene from Hitchcock's The Birds

People like you suck. Gulls are disgusting, dirty, disease ridden creatures. No one wants them swarming around for food sh*tting all over beach chairs etc. That is so rednecky....get some class

Any tips from people reading this trip report, who can suggest a comparable property (i.e. great pools, kid's club) that is actually on the beach?

I have heard good things about Marco Island marriot resort which is right on the beach.

Has anyone stayed there recently? I originally booked Marriott Harbor Beach in Ft Lauderdale b/c the Turnberry was full but it now has availability. However, it would cost an extra $2,000 to stay there. Is it that much nicer that it's worth the extra cost?

I did. The only downside is a short shuttle ride to a beach club down the road. The upside is the beach club has EVERYTHING and caters to your needs, so it's not like you need to run back to the hotel with little ones.

It's right across from the Adventura Mall, making eating cheap really easy if you choose. Pools are fantastic and it was not overcrowded over the holiday season. I loved it!

Cool story -- Husband and I were in Saint Malo this summer and a seagull swooped down and literally grabbed from my hands the Nutella beignet I was eating. So freaky. Seagulls are now my archenemies!
