New Year's Food Resolution: Actually eat the leftovers

Anonymous
I made a new rule: All leftovers must be eaten. I'm tired of packing food into tupperware only to toss it a few days later.

Today that meant lunch was potato skins with horseradish sour cream leftover from our New Years Eve dinner. Not half bad.

What's your 2014 food resolution?

To not be a human garbage can and eat what is left on the kids' plates.

I never throw out left overs. I freeze (spaghetti, rice, sause)and then take out next week. I also try to cook just enough so we don't have left overs.

OP, I usually take leftovers for lunch at work - and used to plan for lunches. As in, buy stuff specifically with the idea "I can eat this for lunch." We were then overwhelmed with leftovers and lunch-food and stuff got wasted.
Lately, I have stopped planning for lunches. Lunches are still typically leftovers. When we have "extra" leftovers, I freeze in lunch-sized portions... soup, etc, stuff that will reheat in the office microwave fairly well. When I have a "gap" in the leftovers, I pull one of these out.
Simpler, less shopping, less prepping/cooking, and less waste.

I eat a lot of leftover pieces of meat in taco shells with some cheese/salsa. For lunch at home.

I also freeze leftovers for lunches to take to work. Once it's been in the fridge 2 days, it goes into single serve containers and into the freezer.

I'm weird and will happily eat leftover dinner for breakfast. It's a good resolution, op!

I used to be so much better at cooking from scratch and I've been sliding , so I'm going back to it.

I do this too.

My resolution is to eat healthier, not as much sugar. I think it may need to start next week though - I am not off to a good start

Take lunch to work more often
Eat more veggies
Find a few good couscous recipes and incorporate them into meals
Perfect one or two good salad dressings
Perfect one or two good fish cake recipes

As you can tell, I make a lot of resolutions!

I am sticking to frozen vegetables and only buying fresh if I plan to eat it that day or the very next. I throw out way too much produce that has been sitting in the fridge too long and ends up going bad. Makes me sick to think of all the money I've wasted doing that
