For girls, being a trapped player is rough. The heaviest contingent of college coaches show up for the sophomore and jr years. If you are trapped, your junior year is during the rest of your team’s senior year when nearly every kid who wants to play in college has already committed; so very few coaches are at the games. We are talking dramatic differences. A junior year ECNL showcase game might have 100 coaches, a senior year game has 35.
If you are trapped, your sophomore year needs to just be amazing so that you are already on the radar of the schools you are interested in, then you have to stay in their minds when they begin to recruit your class even if they don’t go to your games as often. If the player is really good and highly recruited, being trapped isn’t an issue. If the kid is just middle of the pack, expect to have to work hard to make sure you get seen and remembered. |
This is correct. Trap players get to play U19 two years in a row. |
Can we please get to 250? |

How have 2010 girls fared in all the changes? Did they lose any starters back to SYC? |
Or pick up any starters from Brave? Net-net, have they emerged stronger or weaker? |
The B2007 selection was a joke. Mostly Braves players received offers—those same Braves players who were initially not offered spots on VAUnion.
The most absurd part? The Braves coach maintained an ongoing group chat with his players, asking them whom he should recruit for his new team. I never want to hear that they are making decisions based on "the best interest of the players", they don't care about them. |
Definetly have lost some players already, not sure if all of them are considered "starters" to Arlington and SYC. Those players are theoreticaly replaced with Brave's best players so net zero right now maybe net positive if you are a Brave homer. The big elephant in the room is there are girls going to DC privates for HS who may also be good enough to challenge for a starting spot at Bethesda come May. If this happens then the new FVU would certainly be net - negative. |
RU in Richmond is intentionally trying to hurt ECNL programs in NOVA. |
Why would a Union starting player leave for Bethesda? 2010G Union folks on DCUM “Moving to Northern VA” seem to think that’s the top 2010G team in DMV (which isn’t crazy when you look at results), and that Union is the best club for girls college placement (which also isn’t crazy when you look at results). |
Because they know its a better team, and if winning and if being seen by colleges is the goal, why not join the team that has done that year in and year out sine u10. More importanly proved it on a national stage at u13 last summer. Only talking about 1-2 players from FVU so don't get your panties in a bunch, but it might be time to circle the wagons cause FVU rents. IF this went down it would be 1-2 of the best players on the roster. Maybe its the 2 at national camp in Atlanta with the 3 Bethesda players? IDK? Hence the proverbial elephant in the room. |
HOW???? |
Confirmed |
Maryland based clubs are more attractive to those who attend private school because the HS soccer season aligns better with the ECNL schedule. |
