Does anyone have a dental bridge?

If you have a dental bridge, would you recommend it? If so, what kind and do you remember the cost? TIA.

OP, are you deciding between a bridge and an implant? (I'm in that boat; I know implants are way more expensive/painful to put in, but supposedly last longer.)

OP here. Yes, I am. I wish I had the $ for the implant but unless I can compromise with my dentist on the cost, I think it might be a bridge.

i have a bridge for about 15 years now and ready for implants. it's cost efficient but not pretty.

PP, what kind of bridge? Lower or upper teeth?

I had a Maryland bridge for many years and it fell out every few years. I love my implant now.

I also had a Maryland bridge, but replaced it with an implant for cosmetic reason. If you can afford it, get the implant.

I want an implant but don't know the total cost yet so I have to weigh my options. Is it possible to get a maryland bridge for a bottom tooth? I heard they do better on the upper teeth. I hope implants go down in price eventually and become more affordable.

Implant is much better in the long run. Can you take out a loan with Care Credit? Care Credit is a medical loan.

My implant was about $2500.

Don't mean to derail the thread, which was about bridges, but you implant folks: How much did it hurt, and how long were you "out of commission"? I am a big wuss when it comes to dental work, and I'm more afraid of the pain than the dent in my wallet.

Dh has a bridge for his upper front teeth. The front 2 were pulled and the bridge is anchored on the 2 neighboring teeth. He's had it for about 6 years now with no problem. If you're having periodontal issues and potential bone loss, I would go for the implant as it would be a longer term solution. DH just had 2 implants set the week before Christmas and will ultimately have to do a couple more and his entire lower teeth will end up being a bridge, anchored to implants on either side.

As far as pain, he has a pretty high tolerance, having had scaling cleanings & root canals in the past. They set the implants on Dec 20 and he was able to eat Christmas dinner with no problem. He said his cleaning earlier that week was worse, but he did have a hygienist that is notorious for being rough in her cleanings. He didn't take pain meds and just had the stitches removed on the 30th. Now it's just a waiting game, will return in 4 mos for xays to see if they set in the bone well, before adding the abutment and crown.

PP here, cost per implant will eventually be about 2500-3000/ea, with insurance covering 50%.

I had bridges in past and now have implants.

Bridges last on average about 7 - 10 years with maybe 15 years as tops. I had 2 bridges installed when I was 18 so I went through multiple bridges and they always fell apart. Implants last far longer but are more pricey.

You will be out of comission for 1 day maybe 2 days more for minor recovery.

I have a bridge that's been there for about 17 years. It's still going strong and I haven't had any problems with it; although my dentist was telling me at my last check up that I need to start considering an implant...... which I don't think I need as the bridge is working fine and you can't tell at all. It's on my top left.
