Finally a BFP but bleeding

Anonymous
I finally got a BFP after 11 months of ttc and on the last cycle prior to my first IVF. I was supposed to get my period this past Saturday (Dec 28) but was only spotting so I took a HPT and it was positive. I used the cheap wondfo ones and the test line was almost as dark as the control line using first morning urine. Two days later I am still spotting and passing some clots- there is quite a bit of blood when I wipe but not enough to make it onto the panty liner. I also don't have any symptoms at all. I don't have an OB and my RE is in NYC. Am I going to miscarry? Should I try and find an OB to do a blood test to check my HSG levels? I am so anxious that I am going to lose this baby also.

Where were you scheduled to do your monitoring here in DC if your RE was in NY? I would see if they could get me in to a Lab Corp just to test. You aren't going to know for sure even with one test, but you will at least get the process started.

Get your RE in NY to fax lab orders in to LabCorp or Quest for a beta on 12/31 and 1/2, so you can see what might be going on. It is too early to really do anything, except keep your hopes up. GL.

P.S. Your family GP could order/draw bloodwork as well.

just a bit of reassurance that hopefully all will be OK: with DC2, I bled (period-like bleeding but no cramps) from days 26-29. Tested on day 31 and got BFP. OB checked betas after that and did an early u/s at 7 weeks, and everything turned out fine. Never had any explanation for the bleeding. Happy thoughts for you!

OP, try not to worry that much. I am 8 weeks pregnant and have had bleeding for about half of my pregnancy, including one huge gush of blood with a clot.

The doctor saw a blood clot at my last u/s appointment, but it is not near where the placenta is growing and they aren't worried about it.

I am not out of the woods yet, of course, still a few more weeks to go -- but everything has been progressing perfectly despite the bleeding. It is fairly common.

Op here. Thanks for the reassurance. I'm still bleeding and have an appointment on Thursday to check my betas.

I'm the PP at 10:44. I know it is way easier said than done to stop worrying (if not impossible).

Good luck with your beta on Thursday.

Op again. I had my first beta today and it was 5129. I'm 20 dpo or 4w5d but I'm still bleeding. Sometimes the blood is brown and sometimes it's bright red. I've been bleeding on and off for 5 days now. So anxious and heartbroken.

Well, the good news is that is a very strong beta. It wouldn't surprise me there are multiple sacs. What does your re say?

I have an ultrasound tomorrow morning so we'll see.

OP, good luck tomorrow. Let us know how everything goes. It sounds very promising though since those are some great betas. My RE told me not to worry about bleeding, and that it is likelier in those who have had IVF.

hey OP. How did it go today? Keep us posted! I'll be thinking of you!

Op here. I had my first u/s this morning and we saw a sac that measured at 5w2d and my beta increased from 5129 to 6866 over a 24 hour period. The RE can't explain the bleeding and I am still spotting today. I go back for another u/s next Thursday. I'm keeping my fingers crossed and praying. The bleeding is just so upsetting.

I am one of the PPs who experienced spotting for several weeks, including some heavier, and one huge gush of blood. Turns out I have a hematoma, but it is not a threat to my pregnancy.

OP, those are great numbers! Looks like your doubling time is right on track. Congrats!!
