TIA !
there are 3 levels of math at our aap center for 3rd grade. i have 2 in 3rd and they are in 2 different groups. 1 group is doing what seems to be intense word problems - think jr. algebra stuff. The other is working on strategies for multiplication. Of course this is this week's curriculum, I can't remember what they did in 2013!

In Haycock ES, there are 4 AAP classes in 3rd grade. It seems four teachers have four different levels of math and words study.
My AAP third grader is doing fraction addition and subtraction, finding the LCD, equivalent fractions, etc...
Local level Iv- division with remainders
My 3rd grader in GE already finished fractions and LCD, multiplication and is now doing long division.
What school? My GE third grader who is supposedly in the "challenging" math group in her class is doing basic multiplication. So frustrating! |
21:04- which school?

My 3rd grader did the fractions before the multiplication, too. He's doing multi-digit multiplication (lattice method and partial products) and long division (with and without remainders). They worked on learning the multiplication tables after the fractions, then they went right into the harder stuff I just detailed (x and / simultaneously). They would have started a new unit this week, but the weather has moved that into next week.
I have no idea if his class room does grouping for leveled math. Doesn't seem like it, but my kids is not interested in talking about school when he gets home. How do others know? Do teachers inform you? |
Now they are doing simple algebra
