I'm not pregnant, but maternity clothes are flattering on me. I'm tall and high-waisted, so I like that so many are tunics or have empire waists. And the side ruching looks good on nearly every body type.
I accidentally wandered into the maternity section at Target once, but now I seek it out. Just had great luck at Macy's after finding nothing in the rest of the store. Does anyone else wear maternity clothes when not pregnant specifically because they look nice? |
Has anyone ever asked if you're pregnant or asked a question that implies they think you are?
I find them comfortable but I also think they make you look pregnant even when you aren't. I have 3 kids so I basically never want to look at another piece of maternity again but when I do try to use a tank or a cardigan from that box I feel like it highlights my mid section in an unflattering way.
OP here. No, never been mistaken for pregnant. I think it works on me because I'm tall.
Keep telling yourself that OP

I know what you mean, OP--I'm long-waisted, and maternity clothes were a dream for me. I also tend to like a lot of the styling.
|
This makes sense to me. I'm pregnant now, and have noticed that a lot of the maternity tops are basically just really long, stretchy versions of regular tops. I'm average height but I can see how if you're tall they could fit well. I'd be careful with the side-ruching though. To me side-ruching screams "maternity top."

ME TOO
Man just gotta roll with what is comfortable. |
I found an amazing skirt on clearance once, and while on line to check out, I noticed the tag said 'maternity.' I bought it, love it, wear it. So comfortable! I love the gently stretchy waistband! Since then I've bought a few more the same way: I see the item, like it, and then discover it's maternity. Fine with me!
compared to the beautiful and stylish options, I have no desire to wear maternity clothes. I couldn't sell them fast enough. I was really depressed the day I had to finally go shopping for maternity clothes.
I love maternity shirts. Long to cover the butt, not too big but roomy, sweaters are the best.
I'm a mother of 2 under 3. I'm 5'6" and 135 lbs. So no, I don't "look pregnant" unless I actually am. But I first wore maternity clothes when I was pregnant with my first and they are a staple of my wardrobe now. They are extremely comfortable, and hides the places of flabbiness so well. They are great for errands, household comfort clothing, when I am painting or doing some DIY project, etc. Plus, they are heck more flattering than an oversized t-shirt. So, OP, I get you.
I'm pregnant with my 2nd now...I wish I knew what you all are talking about. The pants are comfortable, but my maternity tops make me looks so much bigger than my regular looser tops. I can't imagine wearing these clothes if I didn't have a bump.
I've never been pregnant, but every time I walk past that "Pea in a Pod" store, I think how cute their maternity clothes are, and wish I had a reason to wear them! I get what you're saying, OP!
Totally get it. 7 weeks pp so still mostly in them and thinking about which will be acceptable to keep wearing once I've lost the weight!
