NOT Del Ray Pizzeria!!!!! Had lunch there last week, took 20 minutes to deliver hummus and another 10 to deliver the thin-crush "Barack My World" pizza. So 30 minutes to deliver lunch, and the pizza cheese was very rubbery. No apology from the waiter for the delay. Three kids under 8 with us, too, though they did fine with the long wait.

Never again. Another example of how fast a restaurant's quality can decline, sad.

Hummus at a pizza place?

Delivery: Monterey's

Would love some eat-in suggestions. I used to love Cafe Monti but they closed.

Feel free to ask the manager why he offers it on their menu, I can't profess to be a mind-reader.

Ugh, Monterey's, no, that is not pizza. It is a gooey, gloppy mess.

OP, I don't have an answer for you. I'm still searching. When a similar thread was posted before, a few posters recommended a place on Van Dorn, but I'm blanking on the name.

I second the Monterey pizza! I am not sure what the PP orderd, but it's not a gloppy mess when I get it.

Faccia Luna isn't bad.

I think Del Ray Pizzeria's pizza is terrible. I always get a sandwich if we go there for some reason.

I prefer Pupatella in Arlington. It's worth the drive.

Monterrey Pizza or Homemade Pizza but you have to bake it at home.

There is no good pizza in Alexandria. That is all.

+1 for Puppatella - but in Alexandria, we like Red Rocks and Pizza Paradiso (not the most out-there choices, but walking distance from where we live and good when you want to sit down at a restaurant).

My husb likes Quattro Fromaggio for ordering in. I'm not as big of a fan. Also looking forward to hearing other people's recs.

Valentino's NY style pizza on little river right by 395. So frickin good we would drive from falls church to get it. I miss their fried eggplant pizza. We moved further out and now it's too far for us. Try it you won't regret it.
