| My family loves German restaurants, but we are tired of schlepping into DC to go to Old Europe, Cafe Berlin or Cafe Mozart. I know Evelyn's, in Burke, closed years ago. Is there any decent German restaurants in Virginia? TIA |

| The German Gourmet is not fancy but they do have some very good platters. I would definitely recommend it for something casual. |

Nothing near Springfield that I am aware of, but here are a couple of possibilities:
Zum Rheingarten in Stafford, VA: http://www.zumrheingarten.com/ This is probably your closest option. The Bavarian Chef in Madison, VA: http://thebavarianchef.com/madison.html Madison is about 18 miles north of Charlottesville. There's also Edelweiss in Staunton, VA: http://www.edelweissvirginia.com/ But it's around 2 hours from northern VA. |

The Bavarian Chef is right beside the Amtrak Station in the old townish part of Fredericksburg. Not near Springfield but worth the trip IMO. http://thebavarianchef.com
