Beef tenderloin: Best place to buy in SS near Kensington?

Anonymous
I am not a big meat eater so I don't buy it often, but we're having guests for Christmas dinner and I want to make a beef tenderloin.

Was thinking about getting it at Costco but only need 2-3 lbs so they'll be too big, right? Where do you recommend buying a smaller one? I'm in SS near Kensington. Sniders? Whole Foods?

Sniders or ask butcher at giant to ut you one.

You could try Sub Urban Trading Company -- they have fresh-from-the-farm meats sometimes (in addition to vegetables). Call in advance, though -- availability and selection is going to be spotty; you may have to special order. You could also try a farmer's market. I haven't been to the one in Kensington but imagine you'd find at least one good beef vendor. I know there are a couple of them at the Bethesda farmer's market (Mid-Pike Plaza on Saturdays, Bethesda Elementary on Sundays).

Or, if you just want it to be easy, with plenty of selection and availability, go to Whole Foods.

Balducci's will have it as will WF.

I wouldn't buy from Suburban b/c that much beef will already be pricey and it will be additionally costly from them b/c they're a small shop.
