Just wondering the hourly rate folks are paying for part-time care with an in-home provider. Please also mention your location.
We are paying just over $200 for about 20 hours in Fairfax. Based on the thread about holiday bonuses, it seems like we could pay abour $50 more and have full-time care. ? |

You are about right. Compare it to say, buying a smaller jar of condiment, coffee, etc. You are going to pay more for the smaller amount than the better deal. It is the same with Daycare. The less care needed, the more it is going to cost. Mainly, at least in my experience, it is almost impossible to fill in the other time frame. Say you only need 3 days a week, but someone else needs the same 3 days or one day will of course overlap. Meaning if the provider is staying within their numbers, as they should, they'd have to turn the second family down. Hence being a problem for them to earn what they need to. Hope that makes sense.
I charge a little higher if it is 3 or less days and the per day rate is a little higher than my weekly fee divided by 5. Hope THAT makes sense.
