I'm assuming it's something that's typically done -- giving your provider cash or a gift card ... How much do you give?
DH says we don't need to give any $$, but I disagree. We have one kid with her, if that matters. |
| One weeks pay, in cash. |
|
NP here, I read that other thread but still don't have a good idea what the "going rate" is. Some folks are doing a whole week's pay in cash, others are giving candles.
I'm thinking of a $100 gift card for the home day care owner and $25 for her assistant. Hope that's not crazy cheap. We pay $275/week. (She also gets a paid week off at Christmas.) |
I don't think there is a "going rate". Everyone does what they can. |
| Candles are not enough. although I get that is all some families can do. A full week's bonus is very generous, given that she gets a paid week off. Your suggestion is not crazy cheap, though I would consider cash versus a gift card. It's hard to beat cash. |
| Give her cash instead of gift card. |
| DH should do the babysitting for a week, OP. |
| We are also doing $100 cash. We pay $250 a week. |
|
OP here. Thanks for the suggestions, and for the previous thread. We also pay $250 a week (though we've cut back on our hours there because of a part-time preschool program; we're still paying the same rate as when DD was going full-time) and she is great. I was trying to decide between $100 or $200, plus a really nice sweets gift basket we're putting together for her.

| OP again, 1025, you're so right! ha! |
| We're doing 100 in cash and 50 for assistant. We pay 225/ week. |
|
One week's pay, if you can. She is one of the most important people in your child's life, and if you can at all swing it, you should go for it.
|
10:25 here. Thanks! I'd do the 200. cash if you can. |
| $100 cash - we pay $225 a week. |
