S/o teacher gift card - only 1/3 of the class contributed

Do I sign the card from the whole class or just the names of the children whose families sent money?

Class.

Ugh, then it looks like class scrounged up $2.50 per student for a class gift!

OP, that sucks.

If I was in your position I would put in more of my own money and sign for the class.

And then next year, let everyone do their own thing.

What about giving back the $ to the 7 people who donated and tell them there wasn't enough $ for a class gift.
Anonymous
How do you know who donated and who didn't?
Anonymous
Just put the names of the 7 people in the card. Maybe the others are sending in their own gifts.
I also like the option of just adding my own money and making it from the class, as long as you have the means to do this.

OP here we are a class of 29. 9 people contribute between 10-20 dollars each. It seems a touch unfair to the others who didn't participate. I was going to put in $50 and bring it up to a nice round number

This teacher has been on my DD's ass all year. She took points off a spelling test because DD put down the wrong date. She made her sit out of recess because of coming to school late, even though other kids who are late don't get punished this way. She sent back homework to be re-written because there were eraser marks (not huge ones), when other kids turn in crumpled papers with food stains on them. She just rides her. So no, I'm not contributing to a gift. And I hope you leave my name off the card. I hate how miserable she is making my DD, and more importantly how much she is driving DD to hate school.

This doesn't sound like our teacher - 3rd grade

I know this doesn't help you now, but the best thing my favorite room mom did was to ask for money at the beginning of the year for EVERYTHING- with a suggested donation. It covered the class gifts for Christmas, Teacher appreciation week and end of year and all class parties. She budgeted for 75-80% participation and got it. It was great to not have to be nickel and dimed through the year.

Just sign it from the class. $2.50 from 20 people is still $50-- it's not about the Benjamins.

I'm collecting so they gave me the money. That's how I know.

Did you do it alone or did someone else help you. When I did this, there were two of us who made calls. Then, we switched to remind people--we could say that we wanted to "be sure" that someone had contacted them. It worked.
