HHI of 200k, maybe 200K equity in our house, $200k in savings. Only drive at weekends.
Do we need umbrella insurance? thanks! |
|
Probably not, but you might get a quote and see what it costs.
|
| You have $200,000 in savings. If you have a car accident that injures someone badly, that savings is a target of opportunity for the plaintiff's attorney. We have a $2 million umbrella on top of our house and car insurance. |
| it is a cheap policy to have. It only about driving. Say a kid breaks his neck falling down your stairs or the mailman steps in a hole breaks their ankle and can never work again. The gutter guy who you hire who doesn;t hav insurance falls off the roof........... |
Hmmm... Perhaps I should keep a sharp knife on hand, so I can make sure if anyone injures themself in my house I can finish them off. Anyone who goes down will stay down... |
good idea, make sure the knife is dull so it really cuts them up and makes it hard to tell if they were stabbed or cut form somethign else. |
+1 |
| It is not expensive and would provide additional coverage beyond what home owners and other insurance provides |
| Both DW and I work with kids. I'm a coach, she leads a girl scout troop and youth group at church. So, yeah, we have umbrella insurance. |
| Get a quote, you may be surprised at how inexpensive it is. |
| It is inexpensive unless you have teenage kids with drivers' licenses living in your house. Our umbrella insurance more than doubled in cost when our son got his license at age 16. Of course, you really need insurance for protection when you have teenage drivers using your car! |
| We have $3m in coverage and a HHI of 250k - I don't see why people go without it. |
| It's way cheaper than you probably think. I pay $100-150 a year. I can't remember the limit but I know it's at least $1M. Totally worth it. |
| Get it. It's cheap! |
| Hell yes. Protect what you have. It costs next to nothing. |
