| When you need a brick and mortar store, which is better--Modell's, Dicks, Sports Authority? TIA. |
| The one that is most convenient to where you live. |
| I lean towards SA in overall satisfaction. |
| Six of one, half dozen of the other. None of them stock really elite products or anything, but they'll do in a pinch. |
Typically for us a broader selection and better prices on basic athletic equipment and gear. For better quality, we usually order on line. |
|
What type of product are you looking for?
I'd add to the list: REI (skiing, biking, hiking, base layers), LL Bean (base layers, jackets), Target (basic gear), Road Runner Sports (running shoes, base layers, running clothes), New Balance (shoes). Depends on what you need. There are also stores in the area that specialize in different sports, like lacrosse, swimming, etc. |
| They are all like home depot...they stock what sells..good for getting started or in a pinch..but once you get serious in a sport you need to get to a specialty store....Dont want to buy my bike (maybe one for my kids) where they sell guns/fishing poles and golf stuff... |
| Dicks |
| Dicks is much better than SQ but in Bethesda, the Modell's store is awfully cute, nice kid working there but it is much smaller than the other. |
