Infertility Support and Discussion
| I am debating between time intercourse and and iui. I have ttc for about 1 1/2 years and gosh I am ready for a baby. I was just diagnoised with PCOS so they are using provera to induce menses and clomid to induce ovulation but my re doctor says to give iui a try. I have not tried a cycle with just clomid and I am wondering if anyone could help me out. My husband has 75million per milliter but only 6% for morphology and that's why they think iui is better. But they normally want you to have 20 million per milliter or more and 15% for morpholoy or more. But if you do the math he has 4 million per milliter good sperm out of the 2 million that they want you to have. I don't know. I NEED ADVICE! |
| Sounds to me like you're having doubts about the IUI - why not try a few cycles without and if you don't get pregnant on your own then you can re-evaluate? All it costs you is time, and that may be well worth it to resolve any doubts. |

i agree -- i have PCOS and just did my second round of clomid -- have THREE follicles forming and a good report re post-coital and lining of my uterus looks good. we've been doing it like little bunnies and now we are at that 2ww!
been ttc #2 for 6 months and while i feel like i wasted sooooo much time before i got to the clomid, at least i really really really am good at peeing on a stick and charting my temp so that i know my body! i even suggested to the RE to wait until day 15 or 16 to do the post coital instead of 13, 14 that he wanted b/c i thought if i did ovulate, it would be "late" -- sure enough, my postcoital/sono was day 15.5 and while there are three large follicles, i had not ovulated yet! |
| IUI increases your chances of getting pregnant and it's a fairly easy procedure. If your insurance covers it, I would go ahead and do it. |
| Well, male factor issues are one of the main reasons to do an IUI, so why don't you give it a shot? Its really just like a pap smear - no big deal, IMHO. |

OP here!
Thank you everyone. I think that I am going to do the IUI! I am extremely anxious to have a baby. I will keep everyone updated! |
| How big of hurry are you in? I have PCOS and clomid alone did not due the trick - and I was on it for 1 year which is way too long! It solved my ovulation problems but it just wasn't happening. IUI, round 2 worked for us. Looking bcak, I would have stopped the clomid only after 3 months and gone to IUI. |
