MCPS Final Exam question for Geometry

Anonymous
I have a struggling student in geometry. He is being tutored but needs to get a passing grade on the geometry final. I know the final exam is not public but how closely does the MCPS official review packet follow the actual final exam? If my child understands the review packets, will he have a realistic shot at passing the exam? Does the county exam throw you curve balls and try to trick you. My child needs a straight-forward exam to succeed.

Are you asking if the exam is a plug and play? Meaning will the exam take a question from the review packet but just change the numbers--the student can follow the exact steps and will get a the correct answer?

I teach another subject, but the exams have never thrown me for a loop. They always seem fair and based entirely off of the curriculum.

Let me start by telling you I am a retired MCPS math teacher who taught her whole career (36 yrs) with MCPS. All of the semester review packets for all math subjects,(in this case Geometry) closely parallel the semester exam. When the reivew packets are written, the exams are side by side for comparison.
If a student truly understands the material on the review packet, they will do fine on the exam. There are no curve ball questions.
Make sure that if your child is working with a tutor, the child is doing the review questions, not watching the tutor do the problem. It is essential that the student can "do the work on their own", since they will have to perform on their own on the exam.

Is there an MSA for Geometry, or is this test something designed by the County?
