Place for great cookies in/near Bethesda?

I need 3 dozen cookies for a holiday cookie exchange this weekend. I'm not baking this year and clearly want something more impressive than grocery store pick-ups. Recommendations?

I've never been to a cookie exchange where someone didn't actually make their cookies. How do you exchange the recipe?

Put a sticker on the baggie that says "Lovingly made by Giant/Safeway/Whole Foods Bakery because I am too damn busy to make 3 dozen cookies...Merry Christmas."

But I said that I wasn't doing grocery store cookies...

World market sells Lacey cookies in milk and dark chocolate and I think there are at least a dozen in a bucket. They are more of a flat candy than a cookie but they are more unique and tastier than a grocery store cookie.

Everyone's a critic!

"Lovingly purchased by me..."

So she's too busy--big deal. Any resentment I might feel over being given store-bought cookies would melt right away if they were truly delicious. Many homemade cookies are not. (And personally I vastly prefer a good, honestly presented store-bought cookie over the semi-homemade variety.)

Hey OP. I hate to bake so I'll also be purchasing cookies rather than making them.

She's making an effort to get something truly high quality and perhaps something you wouldn't splurge on yourself (a bakery cookie? I can make those at home!).

I don't disagree with you. I was responding to 20:14's question on how to exchange a recipe for a cookie you didn't make.

OP, I was just going to include the directions to the bakery. Ha.
