Sport gloves that keep hands warm in very cold weather

My son will have outdoor soccer training through the winter. I bought him some underarmour cold-gear storm gloves and his hands were freezing. What else can he try that will keep his hands warm? Or is the solution just to have him wear hand-warmers in his gloves?
