Pre-Baby gifts for second time mom?

Anonymous
My friend is expecting her second daughter. Another friend is hosting a tea to celebrate the upcoming arrival - not really a shower but I'd like to get something for her. I was thinking of something for the mom since she already has just about everything she needs for the baby, especially since the second will be the same gender. Any ideas? Because this is happening before the baby is born doing stuff like bringing over dinner, etc. is not really what I'm looking for. Thanks!

A mani/pedi is classic and ALWAYS enjoyed.

A prenatal massage was hands down the best pre-baby gift-for-mom present that I received!

If someone gave me a gift cert. for a housecleaning service, I would kiss them.

Personally, I hated the prenatal massage. Especially in the 3rd trimester I found the weird "hole in the table" to be uncomfortable. If you want to go that route, I would give a generic spa certificate that could be used for mani-pedi instead. Also, since she already has a child, she may not have as much free time as she'd like before the baby comes. She may not make it in for that prenatal massage (but may get a mani-pedi or regular massage down the road...)

A really nice set of maternity/nursing pajamas - I got a pair that I wore for the last month of pregnancy and had slits for nursing that I wore for many months after that. Go to pajamagram.com to see.

Fancy soaps and lotions from BlueMercury or the like. She'll never treat herself, and work for the pregnant and the post-natal.

OP here - thanks for the ideas. I was really trying to stay away from a spa certificate because, frankly, she lives pretty far away from me and I just don't have time to find a spa out there and go get a gift certificate. I'd like to do either a giftcard from a more national store or something small... any more ideas? Thanks!

As cheesy as it sounds - something delicious - especially to snack on - Popcorn Factory, cookies, fruit basket (like Edible Creations), or something. My sister sent me this great arrangement of snacks and sweets. It was perfect for a quick snack and fun to pick at. Plus, with an delicious arrangment, the whole family (dad too) can share in it.

Massages are ok, but I'm not a big fan of people touching me, but that might just be me.
