I hate the idea of wearing support hose, but, alas, I don't have lovely legs and don't want to make them worse. I think that means support hose for me. When did you start wearing them, and what kind did you get? |
Jobst ... you'll want to go to a pharmacy that carries them to have them size you. After that you can buy them online where they are less expensive ... I have veiny legs and was wearing them before I was prego. They are about $130 per pair for the pregnancy ones, I think. |
Check with your health insurance and see what your coverage is on Durable Medical goods. If you have any indication of vericose veins your OB should be able to write you a perscription for the stockings. Even if your insurance only covers part of the cost it is woth it.
I am on my 4th pregnancy and have sever vericose veins that require custom strength full hieght maternity stockings. These usually cost around $250 so even the 80% my insurance covers made a big difference. You are better off starting to wear them sooner rather than later. With each pregnancy I have started earlier. Depending on which part of your legs have the problem will determine which style stocking you should wear: knee high, thigh high or full height. And just think that at least it is winter and you aren't wearing them in the heart of a DC summer. Good luck. |
My veins were so bad I had to wear them in the summer at the beach with my bathing suit - freaky!!! Yes, your doctor can right a prescription. They are expensive - the good ones. |
Jobst. You'll need to get them at a pharmacy. This time of year, it's not too bad because your pants and knee-high boots cover them. I started wearing them when I hit 5 months and so far no veins (I'm 7 1/2 months pregnant). |
