Should I leave my long-time Boyfriend???

Anonymous
My boyfriend and I have been together for over 6 years, we are currently engaged to be married in May 2014. We also have 1 child. He has alsways made comments that he wishes I would dress differently (more sexy) and change up my look more often. I try to explain to him that I simply do not have the money for fancy things right now. I am really trying to focus on my career and being a great parent, he also says that I am very stiff and "too professional". He says that I always carry myself to conservatively. I am very supportive of him, which he appreciates. Recently, he made the comment again and this time he added that I am not necessarily what he wants, but what he needs...I am very offended and very hurt. I really don't know if I should get married at this point (but we have a small child to consider) I am thinking about calling it quits and moving on. Maybe I should find someone that does want me!

Be glad he's communicating what he wants at least. I think that is healthy, but the way he did it hurt your feelings. Find something sexy you already have or do something unexpected. He should then be happy and complement you. Guys are very visual, not right, but the way it is. If he's otherwise a good guy throw him a bone so to speak and see what he does. Make sure you let him know if he hurts your feelings. Tell him to buy you an outfit for the bedroom and you'll wear it. He should love you for you, but you have to try too.

That's a cruel thing to say to anyone.

You are not necessarily what he wants? Leave his making up stuff. He wants out. Sorry.
I will say better now than before assests get tangled up.

He's telling you that he will have what he wants on the side, while he has what he needs (you) at home. Sorry.

How fat have you gotten, exactly?

Therapy is a good idea--because whether you end up deciding to marry him or not, you're going to be in each other's lives.

In what context did he say that? Not that context makes it ok. Just be glad you're not married yet. He either wants you or he doesn't. Do you want him yourself the way he treats you, that you're not good enough and need to change. Once married things are only going to get worse. Decide for yourself if YOU want him.

This, obviously. Only your bf knows what he meant and only a skilled professional will be able to help you both articulated your wants, needs, and feelings. Shouldn't walk away from your child's father without an attempt at therApy.

And why do you not refer to him as your fiancée if you are engaged?

-Five years is a long time to delay marriage.
-It sound like he is threatened by your maturity, you have grown up and he is still playing Xbox and watching south park.
-He doesn't want to accept that he is moving into married life and all of its "excitement"
-Maybe he fell in love young and now realized he missed his peak tramp stamp/twerker years playing house with you
-He sounds like a bigger baby than a 5 year old
-You will always earn more than him
-Check his instant messaging history, he Has probably put it past you to check.
- You know you can do better
