I know, I know-- Filipinos don't tend to be concentrated in one place, but to the extent they are...
DH (Filipino) and I are originally from MoCo and living here again. We just had our first kid, need to move in a couple months and would like to buy our first home. Where can we go (preferably in MD or DC) where there are a significant number of Filipinos? I hear Fort Washington, but DH works in Howard Co, so that feels far. Anyone? It's not like it's necessary, but it would be a bonus for us. |
| Kamusta! Ok, not Filipino but lived in Manila for two yrs and miss the kindness of Filipinos (and having a yaya!) |
| how about anywhere in the DC area? |
| The only place I know where you will see tons of Filipinos grouped together is Fort Washington. My DH is Filipino and we used to live there also. They have their own salons, churches, grocery store, barbers, etc. |
| I feel like there is a big presence in the Rockville-Germantown corridor, but not sure which particular neighborhoods. There is a big church in Laytonsville out that way also. |
KUMUSTA! My parents go that church- practically all Filipinos. I agree that there is a pretty big Filipino presence in Rockville, Gaithersburg and Germantown. You won't find specific neighborhoods though. |
| Fort Washington and St. Columba Church. Filipino central. |
How many Filipinos do you own, exactly? Has anyone told you that slavery was abolished in our country a century and a half ago? |

| (sorry 13:29) |
Well, except for the nannies on the playground...
Just kidding. I know many Filipinos in this area but none of them live in the same neighborhood or even town. Maybe join a group like this to connect: http://www.meetup.com/Washington-Tagalog-Speakers-group/ |
| Definitely in California. |
| Virginia Beach! |
No kidding! Too bad we can't move to Daly City. Alas... Looks like if we are not moving to Fort Washington, our plan to self-segregate will be thwarted. Although I'll check out Laytonsville! |
OP here-- we're members but it seems like 99% of the Meetups are for 20-somethings to get drunk and/or find a spouse. We're old and though we like to drink, we have found spouses. |
