Holiday gifts for tenants - which gift card would you send?

Anonymous
I like to send gift cards to good tenants for the holidays. Most of my properties are group houses, so do you have any good recommendations for places that would be good for several people to share? In the past I've given to our local grocery store and one local restaurant. All are in DC. Thanks!

Um, I've never heard of anyone doing this. A gift card will inevitably be used by only one person. Give them some cookies if you must.

Definitely send small individual gift cards to Jason, Luke, Adam and Sam and the same to Meghan, Maggie, Courtney and Katie

Um, good landlords reward good behavior by good tenants. That's how good landlords keep good tenants, and how I've been so successful at doing this for 11 years. And in the past they've happily shared gift cards on big trips to the grocery store and BB&B. But thanks for your helpful suggestion!

Our landlord gave our kids presents. It was super nice.

What a nice idea! If you know that the roommates share grocery expenses, then I think a grocery gift card sounds great. If they shop separately, though, it might get complicated for them to use it equally.

Another option might be separate gift cards in smaller amounts for each tenant (to somewhere a small amount would be useful, like a local coffee shop).

You sound like a great landlord!

I have individual tenants and give them small gifts at Christmas. Three are young women so candles, scarfs any small luxe item

For the one single man I give him a Starbucks card because he loves the coffee

What about a gift card to Dominos or a local food delivery place? That way they could all have a dinner together.
