| I'm planning to give my nephew a soccer themed gift basket for the holidays. I already have a soccer calendar, official FIFA replica 2014 World Cup Ball, and an Adidas DC United Tshirt. Besides the obvious jersey shirts, cleats, socks and shinguard's what else can you think of? I'd like to add a few more things. |
|
Michaels (or maybe other similar stores) have little soccer ball ornaments for the "holiday tree".
Water bottle? Soccer-themed notebooks, pencils, erasers or other little items (I have girls, these are always good little extras for them, not so sure if it's the same with boys) |
| Since the kid is already a teenage, order a pair of custom shoes, costs maybe $250. Then take back all that other stuff! |
|
Go to soccer.com for ideas. If he's a fan of European club teams you can get gear and stuff from them. My DC had flags, pencil cases, etc from various Premier League teams. Kids always need new soccer socks as they get super dirty and you need several pairs a week for practices.
That being said, if the kid is involved in soccer he's probably got tons of team stuff already. Mine has backpacks, bags, jackets, practice jerseys, and piles of uniforms from the various teams he's been on. He got to the point where he didn't really want more soccer stuff. Other than the expensive cleats of course, as a PP pointed out. I think his last pair were at least $225. |
| Wish you were my aunt! Maybe some shorts or a jersey of the kid's favorite team? Or a DVD of highlights? |
Or maybe a shoe bag, preferably with the kid's favorite team's logo. |
| Does he have a game console at home? There are a couple of cool FIFA soccer games for the Xbox/PS3. |

You are a very nice aunt indeed. A couple other ideas:
During the 2010 World Cup, ESPN showed a fabulous series of short documentaries called "I Scored A Goal In the World Cup Final", which featured interviews with the not very many men (surviving) to have done so. Our whole family loved it, and our two soccer players were especially riveted. I'm not sure if it's available as a DVD (I know you can get ESPN's also great series "30 For 30" there), but if you can find it, it would be a great gift. If he's a serious player, you could also look at some of the training equipment from Kwik Goal and Nike Sparq--they offer speed/agility training equipment and rebounders that our kids have found useful for working on their own. Most of it is kind of pricey though, and you've already put together a very generous gift package. Long sleeved Under Armour undershirts in colors that match the uniform are always nice as well. |

I have soccer player kids. these kids play year around now.
Underarmour compression shirt and shorts or longer "tights" - black or white for playing in colder weather. gloves to wear. soccer slides to wear after the game. |

My husband loves soccer- I have gone to this store in Kensington for international jerseys and other type of themes. They also have a pretty good website.

| get him those black rubber things that go over the laces. |
| My nephews at that age loved the European jerseys. My parents used to always get their team of choice. They would wear them a lot. |
