Sleep options for Grandma's House

I am looking for advice on inexpensive crib or portable crib options for my MIL's house. My 11-mo old does not sleep well in the Pack and Play anymore and no one sleeps well when he sleeps in our bed with us. My MIL is looking to get an inexpensive crib for him. Does anyone have experience with one of these full-sized portable fold-up cribs made by Dream On Me? It is recommended by Baby Bargains, but the sales person at Great Beginnings told me that he did not like it for safety reasons. I did, however, read some good online reviews of it. It does have a drop-side which makes me uneasy from a safety perspective.

The other two cribs I am considering are made by million dollar baby/davinci. If anyone has any thoughts let me know.

And for those with the Phil and Ted's T2. Would this be more comfortable than a Pack and Play?

We're in the same boat.

My MIL ordered us a cot-like foam mattress thing from a company called One Step Ahead. It was relatively inexpensive, it rolls up (like a sleeping bag), comes with a tote bag (easy to travel & lightweight), and seems softer than the pack n' play. It is on the ground so I don't have to worry about DD rolling off.

We tried it out a week ago to acclimate DD (16 mo.). She enjoyed walking on it and then laying down on it so I hope by the time Christmas comes around she'll be ok sleeping on a new bed at Grandma's.

Wishing you good luck too...

I'm a big fan of cribs made by Foundations. Very sturdy.

Does she live near an Ikea? That would be an economical option.

You could also try a google search to see if there are any companies that rent cribs in the area - we did that on a few vacations and it worked out well.

I have a T2 and we love it, although it is not functionally much different than the pack and play. If your child does not like pack and play, not sure T2 is for you. What we LOVE about the T2 is the small packed-up size and extreme light weight (around 5 pounds). It is so small, it can fit in a carry-on bag. It is fairly easy to set up - like a tent. The mattress seems fine - similar to a thermarest camping mattress. We use two king size pillow cases to cover the mattress.
