MD DIVORCE: For those who have filed in MD after 1 year separation

Do you have to wait the who year before you can file for Divorce? Or can you get a date that is 1 year post separation before the year?

You can file for divorce one year and a day after the separation date. However, you can file for limited divorce before the year is up.

Yes, but given the limitations there are narrow circumstances when you might want it.

Limited divorce can be filed as soon as you separate, all property and custody issues can be resolved in the process and most of the time by the time you get to the end of the process you would have been separated for a year and you can amend your complaint to an absolute divorce.
