| DD is 12 pounds and already the Bjorn is killing my back. Any other suggestions for a baby carrier? |
| Funny I was just researching this site and the old one with the same question. It seem like many people like the ergo, but I personally don't think it's the cutest thing. I'm wondering what people think about the maya wrap. |
| My child outgrew her bjorn and we now use the ergo. It's comfy and has a pocket to stow keys and wallet. |
| ergo for sure. I bought mine online and had a 90 day trial period. I can't remember what website, but just google it and it will come up. |

Ergo Baby Carrier is by far the best that I've had experience with. I had a ring sling and a Baby Bjorn...
The sling was okay but is uneven on your back. It was good because you can even use a sling with a toddler. It was padded well, but it's still on one shoulder. I think the Baby Bjorn was invented by a chiropractor who needed more business! I don't know who can handle a baby over 20 pounds in a Baby Bjorn, but they claim it holds up to 25 or 30 pounds, right? Yikes. My back would have broken. Here's the thing with Ergo... weight is distributed on your hips & back. It's even weight. It is a really great product! And it has a nice hood to allow your baby privacy to nap or nurse (or a little protection from the elements). I think it's plenty cute (I don't know why the PP above doesn't think it's the "cutest thing"??). And you can even wear baby on your back. Baby always faces into you (never out). It's also better on baby's joints than Baby Bjorn. Here's the website: http://www.ergobabycarrier.com/ |

I second the post for the Ergo. We used the baby bjorn until DD was 9 months and I could not take it any more. I just got the Ergo at 17 months and DD loves it. She rides on my hip and back since she hates the stroller.

| Ergo is certainly more comfortable than the bjorn, but it isn't as easy to use. even after watching the video I found it frustrating to try to figure out the different configurations. And getting some of the straps attached with baby in requires a fair amount of flexibility. I would recommend it, but suggest you try one first before buying. |
| I'm in the same boat. Any recommendations for where we can go in Maryland and try on a variety of slings/carriers? TIA |

PP - You may want to try the DC/MD/VA Babywearing Yahoo group. They have times where you can meet up and try out different carriers.

I love my Ergo. My 40 pound three year old can still ride on my back very easily in it. A lower tech version of that type of carrier would be the Mei Tei. I loved my Mei Tei until I got my Ergo
Here's a local place where you can buy a mei tai: http://www.naturallycozybabywear.com/ She is great and sells out of her home, so you can go there in person to try them. |
