Hidden Gems and Their Best Dish and... Best (kid-friendly) Brunch?

Anonymous
I don't want to hear about the Olive Gardens, Bertucci's, etc. I want to hear about local big or mom and pop restaurants around the DMV that are an absolute joy to visit and what their best dish is. Somewhere you can never wait to get back to BECAUSE of the meal and how good it was.

On another note, where is the best sunday brunch in the DMV that is kid friendly (not IHOP)? Someone recommended the Ritz in DC... Is this true?

Good brunch foods for kids at Ted's Bulletin (milkshakes!) in Barrack's Row, Cafe Deluxe in Tenleytown or Tyson's, Clyde's or Peacock Cafe in G-town, American Taproom in Clarendon. Since you didn't specify a neighborhood, trying to give options in several areas. These days, most moderately priced restaurants that have good brunches do kids menus, which is fantastic (and makes it easy to being them along). Yes, Ritz has a good brunch, as do several other DC area hotels.

Thank you, we love going all over the DMV, so please don't hold back ~ what other hotels have good ones?

Liberty Tavern in Arlington has a good brunch that's kid friendly. It's loud and a buffet, lots of desserts, too.
