Homemade laundry detergent ingredients

Anonymous
Hi there. Can anyone direct me to montgomery county stores where I can buy the ingredients for homemade laundry detergent? I found the items online but they cost more than I think they should. After all I am trying to save money by making my own detergent.

Here's what I am looking for.

Arm and hammer washing soda
Borax
Fels naptha laundry bar

Thanks!

Try shoppers. Also I've seen subbed recipes with dr. Bronner's soap. I haven't tried it as I still have Tide left. Got the washing soda from Shoppers

Giant carries all of these. Out of curiosity, why make your own laundry detergent when there are plenty of organic, natural ones on the market? just curious....

Target, Safeway, Giant and Harris Teeter carry all three.

Op here. Here is a link to one of many recipes found online. This one stated prices which tipped me off to the fact that Amazon.com was overcharging.

And to answer PP's question. I am aiming to save money so natural and organic detergents aren't going to cut t since they generally cost more than conventional detergents. I'm hoping to cut costs below conventional detergent costs.

OP, I use Dr. Bronner's soap, in lieu of fels naptha, and am very happy with the outcome. My dc is sensitive to various detergents and he has no problem with the bronner's soap.

Also, I got the ingredients at Safeway (bronner's soap at whole foods).

I use Zote Laundry soap instead of the Fels Naphtha. It works great. It comes in a large bar, about 14 oz. and it's in the laundry aisle.

Do these work on HE machines?

I like the budget101.com recipe because it looks compact and doesn't require storing in large containers and shaking/mixing.

I was just thinking about the duggar recipe etc too OP this weekend. I think Im shopping at walmart for everything.
