I was looking for something new, interesting, flavorful.
We have several lactose intolerant people and would like to at least make a turkey they can eat. Plus the jewish girl in me has trouble rubbing butter all over a turkey. Every recipe I've come across uses butter. I may have to stick to my grandmother's recipe (which is on carbon paper and crumbing around the edges) and uses oil, garlic powder, paprika. |

| Have you considered having fried turkey? Think there is a fire station that will do it for free on Thanksgiving Day because they don't people who don't know what they're doing to set themselves or their house on fire. |
| We are doing it this year for milk allergies. I haven't done a turkey yet, but I have been roasting chickens. I stuff the cavity with aromatics, salt, and pepper, then rub olive oil on the skin and sprinkle with salt and pepper. Delicious. I also saw a recipe somwhere this week to use an herb pesto (can make w/o cheese) that was rubbed on the skin. That sounds good too. |

| Yes. I always rub it with olive oil. I would never put butter on meat. Any meat. I also use paprika, salt, pepper, and a little garlic powder. Is your grandmother a Hungarian Jew? |
| Never considered butter either. Fill the cavity with onion, cellery then rub it down with olive oil. They we take packet of gravy mix and rub that over the outside..and cook it in a bag. |
